I'm back, after almost a year's absence from posting on this blog. I've made a slight change to the name, from Hyperopic One to Hyperopic View. Hyperopic means far sighted, if anyone didn't want to take the time to look it up. I am literally far sighted, concerning my eyesight, but I also like to think my thoughts and concerns are always looking towards the future....and not just here on earth, but it's also my heavenly goal.
My main interests are still religion and politics, so that's what most of my content will be. Hopefully I will be able to spark some interest in what I have to say. I don't do Facebook or Twitter, so this is my outlet for spouting off on current events. I've been accused by my friends and family of getting a little too long winded sometimes, so I could never be on Twitter when I'm only limited to 140 characters!
The story in the news for the last couple of days has been about Todd Akin. I must say I was a little disappointed at how quickly the Republican big wigs "threw him under the bus". Granted, his comments were inartfully expressed and misunderstood as being insensitive, but he did apoligize.
If this was a test for how the GOP party bosses are going to stand with the Christian conservatives, then I believe they failed this test. They are too afraid of the Dems and the liberal media branding us all as being politically incorrect bigots. I understand they don't want to risk losing this seat from Missouri, which should be a somewhat easy pick up for them, but what I'm sensing is that there is still some strong support for Akin, despite all the condemnation. However, we fiscal and social conservatives are fired up and the Republicans should know that they can't afford to alienate this strong voting block. They should know that we truly do stand for what's good and true.....Life and Liberty. Let the Dems go ahead and have their convention theme be Death and Taxes.
